Hello,
Is there any planned feature for having a description box for each entry in the "content" section of the aliases?
This is very handy when using a large number of IPs or domain names in the aliases.
This would allow you to identify what each of the IP/domain/entry in the content section.
I had actually seen this in Pfsense many years ago (before switching to opnsense a few years ago)
see attached
This only works when using one alias per IP or network and use nested Network group
Used adding this link for interested readers (Feature request: proper administration of aliases): https://github.com/opnsense/core/issues/6619 (https://github.com/opnsense/core/issues/6619)
I am perfectly on board with nesting.
Create aliases like
Port_Application
Host4_Description
Net6_Description
and use groups. I am not missing anything and I would consider this best practice. I have been managing firewalls for 30 years.

Thank you for responding so quickly. Would you mind taking some screen shots? I would like to learn from your experiences, but I don't fully understand your post.
See screenshots.
Thanks for sharing great help. How is a nesting looking like?
Look at the first screenshot. Group_Backup_Servers contains two other aliases. Same for ports. Group_Customer1_Ports ... you get the idea. I don't want to share my customer alias definitions for obvious reasons.
Of course you don't want that, I'm going to study the pictures even better. Thanks!
