Title: Proxy Uses
Post by: spetrillo on June 19, 2021, 12:08:51 AM
Got a couple of questions...

Now that I have my proxy working in transparent mode I was wondering what I can use it on, other than my normal home devices. For example I vlan out my IoT devices and my ethernet connected streaming devices. Do you use the proxy on these, or does it mess things up?

Lastly I have an app on my iPhone that will not load when I am using proxy. Its my Chewy app and I was hoping that someone might have hit an app problem with the proxy and could let me know how to troubleshoot it. In looking at the access log it shows me three lines for the chewy app and they are are not declined.

Depending on your setup, did you Enable SSL inspection, or did you enable Log SNI information only?
in case you have SSL inspection on it'll definitely cause problems as you'll need to install the certificate on the devices somehow or use  SSL no bump sites, also the devices might be using ports other than HTTP/S, You'll need to test and see for yourself.

like I said I would 1-start by checking if the app is trying to use anything other than HTTP/S that's blocked in the firewall.
2- Can you access the website just fine? do other apps work okay from behind the proxy?
3-maybe try adding the the app URL to the SSL no bump sites.
