I am running OPNsense 21.1.2-amd64 on a ProtectLI Vault FW4B. The startup and reboot sounds are clear. When the device is running I occasionally (fairly frequently) several times an hour get a scratchy/clicky sound. Is this probably hardware or software? If software is there a workaround. I just got the device and set it up today. I am a newbie.
If your hard disk is not solid sate it is probably the sound of it dying.
Cheers,
Franco
I have also a Protectli Vault FW4B and do not recognize any strange sound.
I cannot share the assumption of franco because the FW4B has only a msata drive.

Maybe your fan or some energy flowing sounds from the storage or power supply
It is a circuit breaker attached to a hair dryer causing (inducing? the) speakers to pop. Sorry for not properly detecting the source of the issue.
