Was kann ich machen ?
Kann ich jetzt noch ein Backup der Konfiguration ziehen (wie?) und nach einer Neuinstallation das Backup einspielen ?

Grundsätzlich ist das Konzept vom Backup, dass man welche anlegt, bevor man sie braucht. Das kann man auch wunderbar automatisieren.
So wie sich das liest gibt es einen Dateisystemfehler.
Kommst Du noch in den Single User Mode? Dann könnte man einen fsck versuchen.

Wenn das Dateisystem so kaputt ist, dass fsck nichts mehr reparieren kann, sieht das aus meiner Sicht schlecht aus.
Vielleicht hat ja jemand anderes eine Idee.
meine empfehlung, neu installation und die ganz alte config nach nach dem du über den browser auf die kiste kommst einlesen. solltest du garkein backu der config haben, leider von vorne anfangen (aus fehlern lernt man)

da gebe ich dir voll und ganz recht. Ich habe die OPNsense jetzt wieder neu aufgesetzt, Backup eingespielt und ie letzten Änderungen angepasst.
Mit geht es vorallem um den Lehrneffekt .... was kann man in diesem Fall machen .....
Ich hatte mir erhofft dass man an das Konfigfile noch "irgendwie" drankommt.

Hatte diesen Fall noch nicht, deshalb habe ich mir keine Gedanken dazu gemacht. Muss ich auch nicht, mache Regelmäßig Backups von meiner config (jedesmal wenn ich was ändern will mache ich vorher ein Backup) habe ca. 250 Backup Dateien also mehrere Möglichkeiten auf ältere Stände zu springen

Das wäre mir aber zu doof. Nextcloud Backup jede Nacht, automatisch nach 30 Tagen gesäubert. Klar, wenn man innerhalb eines Tages mehrere kritische Änderungen macht, kann man das ausnahmsweise machen, wie Du es handhabst.
Ich habe einige OPNsense Instanzen laufen, auch für Kunden, da muss das Backup automatisch jede Nacht an einen Ort abgelegt werden, wo jeder, der sie braucht, sie schnell wiederfindet.
Du hattest in deinem ersten Post nichts von mehreren Systemen geschrieben, deshalb bin ich davon ausgegangen das es sich um 1 System bei dir privat zuhause handelt, und da KANN man es so machen

wärst du vielleicht auch. Je nachdem ob du es geschafft hättest, das Gerät noch in single-user mode zu bekommen und an der Konsole dann einen fsck machen kannst, der dich danach wenigstens die Partition noch mounten lässt.
Alternativ auf einem externen FreeBSD anklemmen und versuchen zu mounten wäre die andere Möglichkeit gewesen. Wenn das alles nichts bringt und die Partition so vermurkst wurde von einem Powerloss o.ä. dass da nichts mehr geht - nope, dann kommt man an die Config nicht mehr ran.
