Title: Changing Gateway name
Post by: afan on January 25, 2021, 06:29:49 PM
Hi there,

One of my WAN connections had its connection type changed from DHCP to PPPoE.
However on the Gateways listing, I still get "ISP1_DHCP" and cannot get rid of the DHCP naming: when editing the GW, I get:

QuoteThe following input errors were detected:
Changing name on a gateway is not allowed.

Just to avoid any misunderstandings when I take a look at this page in a year or so from now... is there any way to change the GW name manually?

Thanks.

Same for a Gateway group, by the way:

The gateway name is tied to different subsystems and we're unsure how much breaks if a gateway is simply renamed. Looking into it from a core perspective is probably not very efficient.

If you want to change the name you could always create a new one and copy the old settings.

For most people gateways are static for dymanic interfaces (as weird as it sounds) since gateways are automatically created e.g. for DHCP and then a rigid naming schema is used to avoid complexity in other parts of the system.

Cheers,
