How do I configure OPNSense? I an a total newb here and I would like some help on this. Here is what I want to setup I would like to have my wifi and lan as one (like my big box router was setup). I would also like to set it to only give access to the internet to a predefined set of MAC addresses. Ca anyone help me on this???

Your question very general, suggest reviewing the docs.... minder reader cap on....

Like you I'm new to this game....I was able to get my box running but only after a few days of research and about a 7 resets. (trial and error). I'm not a developer, network engineer nor a CLI guru. In retro spec, I should have gone a different route but I can't return my new hardware so I live with it.

Assuming you got it installed.....

The setup wizard will get you online. It appears on first boot. The WAN port is NAT out of the box (outbound traffic is allowed (from LAN) but not the other way around)

This is not uncommon but most ISP/Cable Co. don't like the change of MAC address. Had to contact Cable Co to reset modem.

Only two physical interfaces (WAN & LAN) are live even if there is more NIC or WiFi available in box.  The docs say to use a switch for more ports. For now, I put my old gateway/router/access point into Bridge mode and plugged it into the LAN of OPNsense.

Good Luck

Depending on ISP, manual power cycle of the modem can also work.

DHCPv4 server, check "Deny unknown clients", enable "Static ARP" and allow only IP leases for a list of MAC addresses (lower end of GUI, "DHCP Static Mappings"). Done.

Well I bought the hardware with OPNsense preinstalled. Yes it would let me connect to the internet and it did do an update to the latest stable release. But now what is needed for my box is to get the internal wireless connected so I can get all of my wireless devices connected. I would like to have everything on the same internal subnet "lan and wireless" like my old router was.

Does your hardware come with a wireless network card? I don't recommend using OPNsense with internal WIFI.

You'll find the WIFI stuff in:
Interfaces: Wireless: Devices

I've got all that set but I can not get the wifi to connect with my devices on my phone for instants It says it can not get a ip address.

@thorneo

I suggest reading this guide, although it is for pfSense, it is basically the same - https://nguvu.org/pfsense/pfsense-baseline-setup/
