Title: /root/pfctl.core taking up all space on SSD
Post by: FourGigaquads on December 05, 2020, 08:56:44 pm
Hello. I recently discovered OPNSense disk is low on space. After invesetigating, I found /root/pfctl.core is using up 11G. I am surprised by the very small amount of information I can find on this file. I don't know what it does exactly. Can I safely delete this or set some retention setting so it doesn't grow beyond a certain point?

You can safely delete this file. pfctl crashed and caused this memory dump to be written. pfctl e.g. reloads the rules for the firewall. If the crash / file reoccurs it needs to be inspected, but that also requires posting which version created it in which type of setup.

Cheers,
