Title: High CPU Usage by flowd_aggregate.py running - Netflow Disable
Post by: andrema2 on October 26, 2020, 10:01:00 PM
Hi

Although I don't have any netflow service started, I'm seeing high CPU usage by
/usr/local/bin/python3 /usr/local/opnsense/scripts/netflow/flowd_aggregate.py (python3.7)

When I go to Insight I see
Local data collection is not enabled at the moment, please configure netflow first

I have Vnstatd running, but I believe it doesn't use netflow.

I'm running 20.7.4

What my be causing flowd_aggregate.py to run ?

So, I activate Netflow and deactivate it again. Now, I'm not seeing flowd_aggregate.py running anymore.

In my case, flowd_aggregate.py was not a culprit, as it showed by the top command. I disabled IPv6, and it dropped CPU utilization from 90-100% to less than 10%.

Please find the following details.

unfortunately, the ipv6 implementation in opnsense seems to have various issues like this. I'm seeing much more attention brought to it however, so I'm hopeful it can be resolved by the next release.
