Title: New 20.7.3 iso required for clean reinstallation
Post by: redleaf on October 03, 2020, 10:06:38 AM
Dear Team,

I'm using a Supermicro E300-9D-8CN8TP server (with the latest bios version) currently running OPNsense 20.7.2 and that I have to reinstall on a new ssd.

Unfortunately I have issues with this reinstallation since only the baseline 20.7 image is available and upgrade from the previous 20.1 image sounds also going though the 20.7 version. The initial version 20.7 do not boot successfully (even from a usb key) but stop during the boot process with an error saying that it cannot find the kernel.

I guess there is an issue for this server with the initial 20.7 version but unfortunately sounds I cannot directly upgrade to the latest 20.7.2 or .3 version from the 20.1. This kernel issue is quite strange as my server perfectly runs the 20.7.2 and were also upgraded successfully time after time since the version 19.x

Could you please generate new 20.7.3 iso images that we can use to rebuild systems or provide a workaround for the kernel issue ?

Many thanks for your support

Alternatively you can try the Bootstrap method using FreeBSD 12.1 https://github.com/opnsense/update#opnsense-bootstrap

I don't think Opnsense do minor releases.

I would suggest try the USB and another disk to eliminate it is a hardware issue.

Oh if you are doing UEFI mode, does your BIOS has a setup mode?

You can build an IMG on your own via GitHub Tools repo
