Title: OpnSense as “Always-On” provider?
Post by: Jhjacobs81 on September 25, 2020, 04:08:05 PM
Since Covit19 hit, WFH (work from home) has become a thing, thats no different in our case then in any other company i suppose.

Currently we are using a Sophos appliance, but for several reasons i feel it sucks. As a part of that reasoning we decided to start working with a Windows implementation for the whole "Always-On" stuff. It works, but its not something i would recoment. Not in the least because we apear to have "strange" stability issues. Beeing a Linux man myself i ofcourse blame it on the Windows server. But Unfortunatly i can not prove that :-)

I have seen a few documents that claim that the Always-On implementation can be used with other VPN providers, its not tied to a Windows backend perse. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Preferably, i would have nothing to do with any Windows server at all, other then the domain controller which must authorize our users.
