Title: Does OPNsense 20.7 not support PPPoE anymore?
Post by: Mattia_98 on August 06, 2020, 09:02:44 PM
Hi,

I've been reading the 20.7 changelog and noticed this line:

Quoteo legacy MPD5 plugins os-l2tp, os-pppoe and os-pptp are no longer available

What does this mean? Is PPPoE not supported anymore?

Thanks in advance
-Mattia

I don't know what that changelog means but pppoe is definitely available in 20.7. I use it to connect to my ISP via DSL modem in bridge mode.

It supports PPPoE as a client, but os-pppoe was a legacy plugin to run OPNsense as a PPPoE server which is highly unusual (outside of a lab)

I mean thats a completely 100% valid question, myself wasnt able to figure out what that changelog entry should mean to the users of opnsense. Difficult topic I know, but maybe doesnt hurt to add some explanation to those changelog lines.
