Title: Upgrade Path Clarification - 20.1-20.7 [SOLVED]
Post by: earthenox on July 29, 2020, 12:58:31 AM
Hi folks,

Firstly - been using OPNsense since February 2020, very very happy with it.  Thanks for the effort you put in to creating such a quality distribution.  I've been singing its praises so much that I now have friends using it as well.

As for my (noobish) question - could I please get clarification as to the upgrade paths between 20.1 and 20.7?

Specifically - If I set up a fresh 20.1 OPNsense install (I'm setting one up on the 30th, when 20.7 is due for release), I'd like to stop at 20.1.9 before moving to 20.7.

I'm just wanting to avoid any issues with Sensei/Suricata with certain NICs in 20.7 until any netmap bugs are ironed out.

Appreciate your time in replying as I know you guys are busy.

Cheers.

Hi there,

Update files to the 20.1 series (really each major series) are available for 1.5 to 2 years approximately before we clean up the mirror files. That includes plugins and minor updates.

In this time frame you can upgrade to 20.7 whenever you are ready so there is no need to do it now.

However, 20.1.9 is the last maintained release of 20.1 so there won't be a 20.1.10.

Cheers,
Franco
