Title: Wireguard vs OpenVPN
Post by: hitechhillbilly on June 30, 2020, 09:23:54 AM
I have used OpenVPN many times for S2S VPN tunnels, I was wondering what results people have had using Wireguard instead and if it has been stable.

Regards,
Marty

Though it is still tagged as experimental, and there only is a userland implementation for OPNsense at the moment, it is completely stable for me and everybody I know who uses WireGuard. I have not yet brought it to its performance limits though.

I have 1Gb connections at my datacenters. Do you see close to this on transfers with Wireguard?

To compare

With an i7 3665U

OpenVPN: 15 Mbit/s
Wireguard: 500Mbit/s on a 600 Mbit/s FTTH but only coming 550 trough
