Post by: BaDTaG on June 02, 2020, 10:39:50 AM
Hi i am looking for some advice for hardware.
i have to setup 2 connection.
1 with 10 gbps WAN/LAN and 1000 users
1 with 2 gbps WAN/LAN with 500 users.

First does OPNsense supports thoes speeds ?

second will this hardware do it and is it compatible with OPNsense ?
10gbps https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/system/1U/5019/SYS-5019D-FN8TP.cfm

2gbps https://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/5018/SYS-5018D-FN8T.cfm

the 10gbps will run multible openvpn user connections and sevral site2site ipsec connections.
the 2gbps will run 1 ipsec site2site vpn.

Thanks
I looked there site and we'll they use supermicro bords. But at a higer price that I can get supermicro for.

So looking at there products I can see what supermicro board is in em and from the looks of it it should be Opnsense compatible.

Now to the next part will it be able to handle the load. :-!/

It always depends on system. If you use Proxy or IPS for 1000 users ... no. Plain routing, firewall and VPN, yes.
