Title: Access to the WAN interface
Post by: danbet on June 01, 2020, 01:16:47 PM
If I connect the OPNsense in the internal network via the WAN interface, I think I should access it over the ip address the WAN interface have received in the internal network. But OPNsense never answers. If I connect a notebook to the LAN interface of this opnsense, I can access it to manage the OPNsense. Why doesn't this work from the other devices in the LAN network via the WAN interface? I have made a firewall rule that access on the WAN interface ist allowed from everywhere.

Because it's a firewall and by default WAN access is blocked to stop naughty people gaining access to the management interface. Strange that....

Yes, of course. But if I create a rule on the wan interface that allows access from my network it should work, but it does not.

If you can avoid this feature. If you must tell people before asking for their support so we can ask to disable it. ;)
