Title: DHCP Leases for VLAN Devices
Post by: dsancez on April 05, 2020, 02:50:00 PM
Hi all,

I am currently running a pfsense with some VLANs.
Since I am thinking about switching to OPNSense, I configured an OPNSense device (separate hardware) accordingly and I am testing OPNSense while disconnecting the pfsense and connecting the opnsense.
There are no other changes than the Firewall Device.

I am wondering about the DHCP Leases for my WLAN VLAN-Devices.
Where pfsense can hand over IP adresses out of the specific vlan dhcp range, OPNSense struggle and tries to give them ip addresses out of the "default" vlan.

I saw that there are some threads with similar questions and issues, but nothing worked for me .. and since I did not change anything else than the FW-Device, the issue must be inside of OPNSense, right?

Perhaps someone can help me.

Best regards,
Diego

Hi all,

I found an still open issue with DHCP and IPS enabled on the physical interface (https://github.com/opnsense/core/issues/3182). Disabling IPS "solved" my problem. With IDS enabled anything works fine. But this can ony be a workaround. Hopefully in upcoming versions of OPNSense this issue will fixed soon.

Best regards,
Diego
