Title: Power off does not always work and reboots instead
Post by: Jeroen1000 on March 21, 2020, 11:08:14 AM
Hi all,

Any idea what might be causing this? In about 50% of the tries, power off actually reboots the Qotom box.
Any logs I can examine?

I found a hint. When I wake the OPNsense box using WOL it will thereafter_not_ shut down but reboot when executing a shutdown -p now. After that reboot, executing a shutdown -p now has the expected result: the box shuts down ;)

This is not likely an OPNsense specific issue. But if anyone has a solution, I am all ears!

...I see this recently with different embedded boxes, mostly running linux. It sucks and I found no way to get around except to cut the power supply after shutdown command (giving the machin enough time to shut down cleanly...).

On the other hand WOL functionality works patchy at best even with machines doing fine for years. It's a mess.
