Post by: peterwkc on February 15, 2020, 07:21:01 AM
Dear All,
I try to install OPNSense but it stop at 44% where the data read from DVD is not blinking. What could be the problem?

This is the current progress:
/usr/local/bin/cpdup -vvv -o /usr/include /mnt/usr/include

RAM: 1GB

Try with manual installation and it stop at 63%.

Most likely a bad sector on your DVD. Can you try installing from a USB stick?

Download Rufus. https://rufus.onl/ (https://rufus.onl/)

You'll need to download the correct opnsense img, extract the bz2 file to get the .img file, then use rufus to create the USB. Set your device to boot from the USB and away you go.

An alternative is Etcher.

I would try a different imaging software first
like etcher instead of rufus

I don't know...
can you redownload your image file and check its checksum first before putting it to the USB stick?
does it happen again?

so the installation stops at the same progress (44% you stated before)?
maybe your hardware where you want to put OPNsense on is defect?
can you try a different harddisk or solidstatedisk?

The installation stops at 63% now. -> DVD ISO.

I had tried with many usb and image file but it failed to boot using usb. It can boot using DVD ISO only.

I had tried with newly pc as well.

What hardware are you trying to install on, what amount of RAM do you have, what size is the drive.

Make model and all the details, we might be able to help you then.
