Title: (solved) Nano Image freezing at boot from USB Device on IGEL UD3 Machine
Post by: bobbis on December 15, 2019, 05:00:58 AM
Hi,

similiar to this thread (https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=5228.0) and my machine: IGEL UD3 (https://www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/Igel/ud/ud3/M330C/) Machine is freezing on a "stock" Nano 19.7 amd64 Image at boot, i just putted a fresh extracted Image to an USB2.0 Device.
I tried with many possibilities and usefull combinations at the boot loader prompt to set stuff like,
hw.ibrs_disable=1
vm.pmap.pti=0
hint.ahci.0.msi="0"
hint.ahci.1.msi="0"
usefdt=0
set kern.vty="sc"
kern.smp.disabled=1
but i cant get this machine to successfull boot ...

I attached a picture where the machine is freezed, the machine doesnt respone on keyboard input,also NUM Led On/Off doesnt work also anymore and either CTRL+ALT+DEL too! The BIG problem about this machine is, i dont have a serial connection possibility to this machine.. there are no UART/com connectors and the resolution from the display is like 640x480 on a 17" inch display, also no scrollback wont work ..  :-\  ... The Image on a different machine boots fine. May someone has a idea what causes the freezing.

Best Regards

*** Update ***
i got lucky :-) its a BUG and found this workaround for it: hint.hdac.0.disabled="1" (https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=163164#c4) <--- click readmore.. nice, now the machine successfull boots!
