Hi All, i'm now transitioning to OpnSense from pfSense. I have set up a box and everything works great except for Captive Portal. I am using vouchers with my setup.
My problem is that the captive portal page doesn't appear when I try to access the internet, i just get a "page cannot be displayed" error. If i were to go to the captive portal page manually (192.168.125.1:8000) I can login and from there i can access the internet just fine.
Can someone point me in the right direction to have this done automatically?
Regards,
Hi,
I have actualy the same problem with a clean install of opnsense + updates.
My configuration is very basic :
1 physical NIC with 3 VLAN
Without captive portal all works fine, but when I activate captive portal (with or without vouchers) I launch the web browsers (firefox, edge or chrome) and I'm not redirected to the captive portal web page.
thanx for your answers

Thank you for your answer ! Indeed it seems your tips is working !
But it's extremely annoying :s Today most of user have https://www.google.com in home webpage.
Anyone knows if this problem could be resolved in a future update ?
I will make some tests with a second NIC without VLAN tagging. I'll make a feed back soon
Thank you
I am using Transparent Web Proxy + Captive Portal and have issues with redirecting automatically on the browser launch. Any solution ?

Hi !
Unfortunately no ! My test with dedicated NIC for the guestNet have not worked.
I'm actualy looking for a solution that I force client's web browser to call an http page by default.
I'll make some feed back soon as possible.

Just wonder why the issue exist on LAN and GUESTNET Ethernet connections. How other users in this forum or commercial firewall solves it ? I see the DHCP advanced options doesn't help here also as per RFC https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7710.
Any clues ?
