Dear friends, good morning I wanted to ask you for confirmation on these matters:
The official website of the project from which to download OPNsense and this?
https://opnsense.org/download/ (https://opnsense.org/download/)
if you want to install OPNsense on a desktop PC with a 64 bit CPU you have to select amd64 ?(but does this mean that it is preferable that the CPU is AMD brand rather than Intel or have I misunderstood?
The ISO file must be burned to a DVD and the PC must be booted from the live DVD that will format the existing operating system (for example Windows) and install OPNsense? If you want to create a virtual machine and install OPNsense on the virtual machine what virtualization software should you use? And how should the hard disk be divided between the real system and the virtual system? If I decide to create a virtual machine in which to install OPNsense, are 4giga of Ram memory sufficient?
Thank you very much
Sereno

the 64bit is suitable for both amd/intel
you can use a usb stick instead of a dvd for the installer, but you will need something like rufus to write the image and create the bootable usb stick.
4GB is recommended, if you look at the wiki (https://wiki.opnsense.org/manual/hardware.html)

Which hypervisor your want to use is up to you.
Every hypervisor has it's quirks, but OPNsense will run on them.
Memory wise it depends on which options you want to use.
For a simple home firewall/router, 1GB RAM is enough.
amd64 is, these days, everything 64 bit when it comes to AMD and Intel CPU's used desktops and servers (excluding Itanium).
Maybe the above is a bit too simplistic, but if your (host) CPU is 64 bit capable, get the amd64 ISO/image.

Thank you so much!
I think I'm using VMware Player.
Thank you so much for your help
Have a good day
