Some time ago there was a post describing how to install OPNsense 16.7.6 on ARM: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=3793.0
Recently I got myself RPI 1 Model B to try it out, though during installation process I receive the following:
pkg: pkg is not installed
Bootstrapping pkg from pkg+http://pkg.opnsense.org/FreeBSD:10:armv6/16.7/latest, please wait...
pkg: Error fetching http://pkg.opnsense.org/FreeBSD:10:armv6/16.7/latest/Latest/pkg.txz: Not Found
A pre-built version of pkg could not be found for your system.
Consider changing PACKAGESITE or installing it from ports: 'ports-mgmt/pkg'.
Seems like the packages were removed from the website. Is there still a way to install it? I would really like to try out OPNsense on RPI.
16.7 is 2.5 years old. Those have been removed a while back from the mirrors.

That's unfortunate.
Does it mean that there is no way to install OPNsense on the old RPI 1 Model B?
Maybe someone still has it and can upload it somewhere?
Perhaps, but I don't believe you'll be able to update as well.
So you'd be stuck at that version.

It's ok if I can't update. I'm just trying to see if it can possibly work.
It can, but it takes a lot of time and effort to build a working version and even more work to keep it up to date at all. 16.x is very old and insecure in a lot of ways so it had to be removed.
We'll be trying a build based on the BananaPi, but it's only a stop-gap until ARM64 is ready for prime time, which is likely another year away for us.
Cheers,
