Hi, thanks to this forum I am now able to install Opnsense in a Nexcom DNA120 which I think is the same as a Sophos SG115. My specs are 64GB SSD, 4GB RAM and Intel Atom E3827 Dual Core @ 1.74. I am using it to protect my home network consisting of 30 active devices and my internet speed is about 55mbps up/25mbps down. I am wondering if my hardware is adequate to run full suite of Opnsense? I have read the hardware requirements doc but would like to know real life experiences.
It depends on the number of users and the services you want to run (Squid, AV, IPS)
Hi mimugmail, there are 4 users and would like to run services for gateway, router, firewall, dhcp, AV, IPS, squid and maybe others.
Up to 10 should be fine
Thanks mimugmail, I have just installed the latest version and updated from console. Cheers.
Wow, best user experience ever!
I have tried and ran pfsense, nethserver, clearos and win server 2012 r2 as gateway, router, dhcp, antivirus, intrusion detection, web proxy etc at home and have always struggled in one way or another to have everything setup and running. With opnsense, everything just works with almost no user manual input. The only thing I did is to change default LAN IP (just my choice) and admin password. ;D ;D ;D ;D
... and it costs nothing (but time) ... 8)
