Title: Cannot define table bogonsv6: Cannot allocate memory
Post by: firewall on July 29, 2021, 05:15:08 pm
Hello,

After upgrading to 21.1.9_1, the error previously discussed here seems to have returned: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=7879.0

My "Firewall Maximum Table Entries" is (and has long been) 2,500,000 so this appears an unlikely root cause.  Below is the specific error shown:

Code: [Select]
There were error(s) loading the rules: /tmp/rules.debug:132: cannot define table bogonsv6: Cannot allocate memory - The line in question reads [132]: table  persist file /usr/local/etc/bogonsv6

hi
can you try to update bogons? (Firewall: Diagnostics: Aliases)

hi

Appreciative of the quick reply.  Are you sure that's the proper path to perform a bogons update?  I don't see an "Aliases" option beneath "Diagnostics".  Here as well, I'm not sure how to force an update of the "bogons" and "bogonsv6" definitions at "Firewall: Aliases".

However, I was able to change scheduled bogon updates from Monthly to Daily so I'll wait for that process to run.

Ah yes, pfTables option beneath "Diagnostics" gave me the option.  It's been a while since I ventured to the option; thanks!  I'll report back if the error continues after updating them.

Unfortunately the same error persists after updating bogons.

In any case updating it to 5,000,000 would rule that out. Address lists only ever increase in size, not the other way around.

Cheers,
