Title: Elasticsearch plugin as remote db
Post by: Collapse4655 on December 11, 2023, 11:36:03 pm
Hello all,

I would like to install Zenarmor while also having the Mimugmail community repo installed. The install wizard said that I can install the Elasticsearch plugin and point Zenarmor to it as a remote database. I have installed the Elasticsearch plugin, but I don't know how to proceed further. I can not find any documentation on how to setup/configure Elasticsearch on opnsense after I installed the plugin. The only option I have in the OPNsense webUI is to enable it.
Also when I try to enable the service it just stays on the red stop sign. I do not know why it isn't starting. Where can I find logs regarding startup of services?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

You could check the Elasticsearch logs in /var/log/elasticsearch/elasticsearch.log if there is any issue with it.

Thanks for the reply. I managed to "fix" it by removing zenarmor+sunvalley and elasticsearch. Then reinstalled elasticsearch only and started it. Then I installed Zenarmor and connected it to the database.
I currently use the default login and password, how do I change those?

Hi,

You can check the Elasticsearch documentation site.

https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/reset-password.html

How did you make out?

I'm sorta in the same boat as you were.  I've installed the elasticsearch plugin and it appeared to install find... but during it's install I saw several things it said needed to be done.  I don't recall exactly, because they're copied and pasted at home right now, but one was doing some mounts and to make them permanent add them to the fstab (if I recall correctly).  Did you have to do that?   Other than the plugin output did you find any site with instruction for the steps to be taken after the elasticsearch plugin install?

TIA
