Title: Whole house VPN?
Post by: leodisdanny on November 19, 2019, 04:06:14 pm
Sorry if this may be a stupid question.

I have recently just invested in Nord VPN, but have an issue in that my tv is not smart, and my router will not support a vpn setup.

So I am looking to turn my router into modem mode, and use a opnsense box + wifi to replace it, thus allowing me to configure the VPN.

My question is, can I route only certain devices through the VPN setup, or is it possible to easily on the fly enable / disable the vpn connection, or change the VPN server?

Thank you.

You can set up an alias for what routes through the vpn. Put the IPs in the alias that you want routed through the vpn. All you have to do is add and remove IPs if you want them routed or not.

yes you can. i'm doing this too,

create the opnvpn connection
create the interface
define within your lan/vlan the policy pointing to the new opnvpn interface gateway
define outbound nat for your vpn

Unfortunately this is the world we live in. How many big companies have been hacked at somepoint.

Granted I dont like the fact of how long they took to confess to it.

That being said im on a months trial so will look elsewhere, express vpn probably?
