Question: Did you install this on UFS or ZFS (an option at install time).
Both file systems don’t like sudden power loss but the latter is reported to better handle it.
In either case you should always aim to shutdown via the GUI or CLI and never just yank the power cord.
If you do have file system corruption you’ll soon know about it at boot up.
In the case of UFS you can run fsck in single user mode with the file system mounted read only to repair.
