What's wrong with the existing?

I can't imagine enough has changed - if anything - to warrant a new one?  The above from netnut seems pretty all-inclusive to me.

Hi,

For me, the guide that was made using vlan with PPPoE has been unsuccessful. The guide is excellent and very well made, but it doesn't work with my ISP I guess.

What I did is simply configure the PPPoE connection on the wan (igc0) interface. I don't know if it's the "right way, but it works.

I would like to know if I'm the only one that had this problem and understand why.

Thank you!

If a VLAN tag is necessary or not is defined by your ISP. You should get all necessary information from them.

If they are of the sort "we only support our own routers, no user servicable parts inside" things become more difficult.

While there is a high probability that some of the more experienced forum regulars have a line run by e.g. german Telekom, french, dutch, UK, US, whatever carrier, for smaller countries and/or regional carriers possibly nobody here shares the same product with you.

In that case there are country specific "DSL users" forums which might be helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I understand that each company is different. On top of that, my company (Bell in Quebec, Canada) doesn't want to share information on how to use anything else other than their own equipment.

Like I said, the configuration I made works, I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.

Thank you
