Title: No internet behind OPNsense WAN working 18.7 VMware on Windows

Hi,

Finally got the time to test / start using OPNsense in my live environment. I installed it on my Windows (for now) 'server' running on VMware Workstation for more than a year ago and the release of 18.7 and a quiet evening made me try it for real.

I have two NIC's in my server, one is used for LAN other for WAN (disabled all protocols except VMware bridge protocol) leading to my Cisco cable modem / router (in bridged mode). My WAN received an ipv AND ipv6 IP from my provider and all functions ON OPNsense work (I can check for updates, test ping and trace route).

Unfortunately my clients cannot access the Internet, something is blocking it I guess or not functioning.

I have no idea where to look (tried a lot though, but it just won't work).

Can anyone give me any pointers?
What do you need more to help?

Hi there,

Is LAN giving out leases via DHCP and static IP or is it acquiring a DHCP lease from an internal server?

Hi,

I had DHCP enabled, but did not reboot any device, so it used the leases from my hardware router.
I changed the IP of OPNsense to .1 wich is the same as my current gateway.

My server has a static IP.

Do I need to test if DHCP works?
If so, I might be able to try tomorrow evening (if the wife agrees :))

wife did not agree :( had other plans, will try again tomorrow :)

Alright, tried it again, same problem.

I do NOT receive DHCP on my laptop but when I enter a fixed IP I can ping the gateway, but NOT the Internet.

Any ideas?

PS. This install is an upgrade of an upgrade of an upgrade etc etc. I do see some 'errors' in the logs while booting, don't know if they are true errors or normal.

I started from scratch and now it's working fine... don't know if it's from update after update or misconfiguration on my part.

anyway, I'm happy :)
