Can someone guide me to install a mirror of opnsense on my NAS?

This way I let my NAS download (rsync?) the updates from another mirror during the night and then have my OpnSense router download the updates from my NAS.

The NAS is a Synology running DSM 7.x

Hi,

I am trying to update Opnsense, but the mirror closest to me is not online.

See screenshot

(Edit: Of course I changed to another mirror but I would prefer a closer one)

I have ordered (and received) a new router (faster and bigger disk) for my opsense setup.

But after installing Opnsense I have noticed the following

On my old router the network interfaces are called IGB0, IGB1 etc etc
but
on my new router they are called IGC0, IGC1 etc etc

So I want to restore the Config from my OLD router to my new router is it as simple as changing in these sections (in the config)?

<lan>
      <if>igb0</if>
<wan>
      <if>igb1</if>

igb -> igc or will that not work?

Thx for any advice.

General Discussion / Mirror down?

I am trying to change my Mirror to a closer one to home

But this one fails to connect

I can access https://yzu.edu.tw though

When I check for updates I get this all the time

Quote***GOT REQUEST TO CHECK FOR UPDATES***
Currently running OPNsense 23.1.11 at Thu Jul 20 12:58:59 +07 2023
Fetching changelog information, please wait... fetch: transfer timed out
fetch: /usr/local/opnsense/changelog/changelog.txz appears to be truncated: 0/279964 bytes
Updating OPNsense repository catalogue...

Status keeps spinning and spinning. Doesn't matter how long I keep it running.

Any ideas?

Mirror is set to Default.

General Discussion / Adguard and HTTPS queries
July 13, 2023, 12:06:42 PM
I have installed Adguard on my OpnSense router and it's working great, but it's not filtering HTTPS

For example if I do

nslookup facebook.com
Server:  OPNsense
Address:  10.0.10.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    facebook.com
Addresses:  ::
          0.0.0.0

That works (whole of Facebook is blocked)

But if I go to facebook via the Browser (just type in facebook.com) it gets redirected to https:// and opens the page.

I have managed (with the Self Signed Cert of Opnsense) to enable Adguard HTTPS connection, but it's still not filtering HTTPS.

Any ideas

Guys,

need your advice.

I am looking to change our network environment at home because of the Solar Inverters we are getting and also family is asking to be allowed to use our Wifi when they come over  ;)

Network layout will look something like this with the OpnSense Firewall only having 2 Ports

Main switch will have these devices connected approx

2nd Switch

3rd Switch

As you can see I am looking to divide it in to VLANS

VLAN 10
- Management
(for example Switches, Main PC)

VLAN 20
- Laptop
- NAS
- WAP (VLAN Aware) for Trusted Devices
- Mobile Devices
- etc

Vlan 30
- Test devices

Vlan 55
- WAP for Untrusted Devices (WAP = VLAN Aware)
- Guest Devices, Mobile Phones etc
- etc

Vlan 65
- Solar Inverters
- etc

I am thinking of using these DHCP ranges

VLAN10   10.125.10.1 - 10.125.10.255 /24
VLAN20   10.125.20.1 - 10.125.20.255 /24
VLAN30   10.125.30.1 - 10.125.30.255 /24
VLAN55   172.25.55.1 - 172.25.55.255 /24
VLAN65   172.25.65.1 - 172.25.65.255 /24

Any comments are more then welcome

Edit: Switches are all Managed Switches and L2.

Hi everyone,

Noob here and just starting with Opnsense.

I was wondering if the following setup https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=31738.0

Is possible with only a 2 port device? I have stupidly only ordered a 2 port device instead of 4 ports.

Any guidance would be very much appreciated

Thx
