Title: Update process to 21.1 running since > 36 hours
Post by: photorat on May 06, 2021, 06:10:22 pm
Hello,
I'm not sure if some one had the same problem (may be I was looking with the key words), I tried the major update to v 21.1 and it's running since more than 36 hours. The GUI is OK, serial console too. The only problem is the system tells me that the upgrade who is probably failed is still running.

Thanks for support.  :)

PS: pls consider me as a beginner

Time to look to some unix commands to get things moving, it is definitely stuck somewhere.
When you bring up a command prompt, there are a few nifty opnsense-* commands which have definitely helped me with stuck upgrades (sometimes caused by DNS resolution issues during an upgrade).

See what "opnsense-upgrade" does for you, might shed some light on the situation.

A last resort command: opnsense-bootstrap will kick it in the nuts, install a fresh opnsense at the latest version, then reapply your config after, you just have to reinstall the missing plugins, but they will be configured once installed, and are highlighted that they are missing.
