[SOLVED] how can I install a .img file on VirtualBox?
« on: October 22, 2015, 04:44:24 pm »
Hi,
what is the recommended way to install a image file on VirtualBox?
Is it possible to start directly with the OPNsense.....nano-amd64.img?
Thanks Jakob

Hi Jakob, I'd go with the ISO and install. Another approach would be to have something similar to https://github.com/pfsense/pfsense/blob/master/tools/builder_common.sh#L799 to build a ready-to-go VM image.

Don't know about VirtualBox, but I just booted from an img file on an Unbuntu 20 KVM-based VM by adding a storage device via USBdisk and the img file as a raw device.  Worked fine.
