new field in der standard admin gui for choosing the standard menu view?

My starting point for the following consideration was that whenever I log in to the web interface, I get the old menu view even though I almost exclusively use the collapsed menu view.

so it would be great to have a selection box where the standard menu view can be set. I have begun to install this somewhere for a test, but now it is not clear in which xml I have to deposit the fields for the webgui so that I can save the settings synonymous. can someone help me with this?
