Didn't my "yes" answer convey that it's normal? It doesn't always happen but when it does it's required and perfectly normal.

Shameless plug; I wrote a script that checks OPNsense for updates and sends you an email if any are available. The email will state when the update involves a reboot.

Yes, 16.7.7 has a new kernel/base and therefore needs to reboot. It should say so, along with a confirmation dialog that you have to accept in order to proceed.

Yeah, sure.

We could mention this in the release notes, but I doubt many read it... if the release notes have "src:" items, then that means a reboot is necessary as that involves updating the FreeBSD core.
